ICE Added to Russell 1000(R) Stock Index

Russell 1000 ® Index Tracks Performance of the 1,000 Largest U.S. Companies

ATLANTA, July 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IntercontinentalExchange (NYSE: ICE), the leading electronic energy marketplace, today announced that the company has been added to the Russell 1000® Index following the annual reconstitution of the index, as announced July 3 by the Russell Investment Group at The reconstituted index is effective for one year beginning June 30, 2006. ICE was also named for inclusion in the Russell Midcap® Index.

Annual reconstitution of Russell indexes captures the 3,000 largest U.S. stocks as of the end of May, ranking them by total market capitalization to create the Russell 3000. The largest 1,000 companies in the ranking comprise the Russell 1000 while the remaining 2,000 companies become the widely used Russell 2000.
